Following this semester’s Peers-Iberian and Latin American Week (#Peers-IBLAW21), let’s look back at February 2021’s week-long events celebrating Iberian and Latin American languages and cultures. As ever, they were wide-ranging and included a variety of activities from the very popular Galician language and culture taster to academic and literary talks and the workshop Un Museo para Mi. We had amazing contributions from our students, Hollie and Laura. Both were active in the Modern Languages Society and went above and beyond in designing and running the Teleparty watch along evening and the Quiz night, which were both tremendous fun.

Get your Language and Culture Fix this Summer

If you’re planning to start a degree with us this year, there are plenty of ways you can get your language and film fix over the summer whilst doing a bit of preparation for your course. The Department of Languages, Cultures and Film has put together an extensive list of recommended resources in the list below. Some of these tie in directly with the modules you’ll be studying with us, as stated where applicable in the descriptions, but most are simply suggestions for broadening your appreciation and enjoyment of languages, cultures and film. Please don’t feel you have to purchase any resources as many will be available in the library or online when you arrive in Liverpool.

Get your Language and Culture Fix this Summer

In the summer of 2020, many students’ travel plans have unfortunately had to be put on hold for the time being. However, if you are planning to start a degree in modern languages with us this year, there are still plenty of ways that you can get your language fix over the summer whilst doing a bit of preparation for your course. The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures have put together an extensive list of recommended resources for students looking for ways that they can prepare for starting their language studies with us this autumn. All recommended resources are purely suggestions for enjoyment over the summer, therefore do not feel you have to purchase any resources as many will be available in the library when you arrive in Liverpool.
