Personal Statement

Hello! I'm Matthew, and I've been a part of the School of Environmental Sciences since May 2022.

My journey here began in the Student Experience Team; working on developing my knowledge with in the University, and then I move onto work with Management Service Team within the school. In December 2022, I was appointed to a Management Services Assistant position on a fixed term basis for 2 years, while I complete my business administration apprenticeship. 6 months in to my post in June 2023 I was offered the opportunity to undertake a secondment to the position of Management Services Administrator for 12 months(Sept 23- Sept 24). My role within the school has vastly changed over the past year as i am involved in numerous different aspects of the school.

Primarily, I've been involved in the School's engagement with the external and internal stakeholders. From assisting in the orchestration of Open Days, Conferences, and Graduation ceremonies to ensuring the smooth execution of internal events like Away Days and PGR Conferences, I've thrived in creating memorable experiences for all.

My role extends beyond event management. I've been entrusted with amplifying the School's voice and visibility on social media platforms: Instagram, LinkedIn and X(Twitter). Through strategic content creation and maintenance, I've played a pivotal role in fostering connections and showcasing the School's achievements and initiatives to a broader audience.

In addition to managing the team inbox's and overseeing general day-to-day school operations and administration, I've responsible for booking meeting rooms and handling procurement orders as well as being the liaison for the School's Outreach activities.

Furthermore, I take pride in my responsibilities as a minute-taker for key committees, including the CTL Operations Committee and NOC Operational Committee.

As the Space Administrator, I continuously monitor the School's physical environment, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing necessary changes to optimise functionality and comfort for all occupants i.e. staff, postgraduates and undergrads .
