This Health Promotion and Behaviour Change module aims to provide the student with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to be an advocate for health promotion and to facilitate positive behaviour change in diverse patient populations and the general public in the UK and abroad. By the end of the module the student will be able to evaluate commonly used, new and innovative strategies used in health promotion in diverse populations in the UK and abroad and to explain and apply common behaviour change models and theories.
It will be delivered through a combination of face-to-face and online: lectures, workshops, asynchronous lectures and self directed study, and will be assessed via a 60 minute in person viva based on patient vignettes, with evidence-based justification of the clinical management. This will allow students to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and practical skills related to health promotion and behaviour change in an applied manner.
