This (level 5) 15 credit pre-clinical module focusses on the development of knowledge and skills required to support practice learning in a variety of rehabilitation settings.
Students will learn about a range of pathologies that cause neurological and long-term conditions, how to identify physiotherapy problems (impairments and activity limitations) and how to apply person-centred, evidence-based rehabilitation to restore and/or maintain function (activities and participation). Personalised rehabilitation enables people to achieve their full potential, and to live as full and active lives as possible.
Pre-recorded asynchrnous lectures provide theory and assessment support on a weekly basis throughout the 12 week module, with two in person lectures that will support knowledge and understanding about the assessment. Case-based scenario learning throughout the module will provide an authentic framework for students to develop clinical reasoning skills, and this is supported by weekly practical sessions which provide students with the necessary skills for effective clinical practice.
The summative assessment will involve a pre-recorded audio-visual presentation to examine a specific topic relevant to rehabilitation. This will be supported by formative opportunities during the module.
