Advanced Geophysical Techniques

Code: SOES265

Credits: 15

Semester: Semester 2

This module bridges the gap between geophysical theory and advanced application. You will move beyond ‘measure and map’ techniques to master the advanced processing, and interpretation workflows used in the energy, engineering, and environmental sectors. Delivered through interactive lectures and computer-based workshops, you will learn to image the subsurface using techniques such as seismic refraction and gravity surveying. The module focuses on the critical skills of data reduction, inversion, and integration to solve complex geological problems. The module is assessed through group presentation and a portfolio of work consistent with professional practice.
