Physics in Practice III (BSc Project)

Code: PHYS343

Credits: 30

Semester: Whole Session

Physics in Practice III (BSc Project) is the capstone module for BSc Physics programmes. Students undertake a substantial independent investigation that integrates experimental, theoretical and computational approaches to solving complex physics problems. Working with an academic supervisor, students design a research project, develop appropriate methodologies, analyse and interpret data, and communicate findings through professional scientific formats.

Throughout the module students maintain an electronic research portfolio documenting the development of their investigation. The module culminates in the production of a dissertation and presentation of research outcomes to an academic audience. Physics in Practice IIIb provides students with authentic experience of professional scientific practice and prepares them for careers in research, industry and other analytical professions.
