This module explores the fundamentals and practical applications of renewable energy technologies and electronic devices. As well as the underpinning physics, the importance of renewable sources such as geothermal, wind, and water-based power, which are essential for addressing global energy demands and reducing climate impact will be covered. The course also explains semiconductor theory and the principles of p-n junctions, allowing students to develop a full understand of the operation of solar cells and other modern electronic devices, such as transistors and detectors.
