Ocean scientists work with a wide range of different types and sources of data from direct measurements of the Ocean, satellite-derived products, to climate model outputs. Data are also summarised across the 4 dimensions of latitude, longitude, depth and time. This module teaches you the practical coding skills in Python to handle multi-dimensional datasets and the critical analysis skills to describe that data. You will work with a range of datasets including IPCC climate model outputs in a combination of lectures and practicals, develop programming skills alongside the ability to summarise data in written and oral communication. The module provides key analytical skills not only for your Capstone project, but also skills that are in high demand in the environment sector, thus developing key employability skills.
