Developing Public Health Perspectives

Code: OCCU283

Credits: 15

Semester: Semester 2

This is the fifth module within the Occupation for Health and Well‑Being theme. This Level 5, 15‑credit module introduces students to public health perspectives relevant to occupational therapy, with a particular focus on the needs of groups, populations, and local communities. Students will explore how public health concepts intersect with occupational participation and will apply these ideas to issues of sustainability, inclusion, and health equity.

Learning and teaching activities will be delivered using a hybrid approach, incorporating tutor‑facilitated seminars and tutorials. These strategies support students in applying theoretical concepts to real‑world contexts and in developing the professional reasoning required for population‑level practice.

Students will demonstrate their professional confidence through an authentic practical assessment: a 20‑minute presentation proposing a sustainable public health intervention grounded in occupational therapy principles.
