Principles of Markets, Firms and Organisational Management

Code: ULMS110

Credits: 30

Semester: Whole Session

This module provides a rigorous foundation in core microeconomic and macroeconomic principles alongside essential concepts in organisation and management that underpin analytical business decision-making. Students will examine supply and demand dynamics, market structure, macroeconomic indicators and fiscal policy, and relate these to managerial domains including motivation, leadership, team processes, organisational behaviour, and organisational culture. The module develops students understanding and skills in interpreting diagrams and basic statistical evidence, assessing trade-offs, and connecting economic conditions to managerial choices. Emphasis is also placed on ethical and inclusive practices, and the integration of sustainability and SDG considerations into organisational decision-making.
