This module offers an analytical survey of key aspects of American foreign policy from the New Manifest Destiny and Spanish-American War in the 1890s through the two world wars to the Cold War in the administrations of Harry Truman (1945-1953) and Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961), paying particular attention to the roles of presidents, secretaries of state and other senior advisors. It examines US policies across the world – from Latin America to Africa, from the Middle East to Asia.
