This module introduces students to the breadth and complexity of the early modern world, that period which bridges the medieval with the modern. From the renaissances of the fifteenth century through the reformations of the sixteenth, and on into early globalisation and remarkable scientific advances, this period is characterised by a transformation in cultures, beliefs and knowledges – and by the impact these huge shifts had on individuals, communities and continents.
