The module equips students with a critical understanding of the reasons behind social and spatial inequalities. Content will discuss the evidence behind a range of timely societal issues such as how women earn less than men, why some minoritised ethnic groups become segregated in particular areas, or the explanations of why more deprived areas have poorer health. It will enhance students’ critical understanding of how to apply and evaluate a range of geographical perspectives and theories to real world policy issues. The module is assessed through two pieces of coursework.
