Increasing recognition of environmental threats highlights how responses to multi-dimensional environmental crises affect the decisions we all make and underscores its inherently political nature across a range of scales. This module introduces the fundamental philosophies, ethics, and values that influence diverse environmental perspectives, interests and governance regimes. It explores how environmental concerns are considered and addressed within decision-making processes involving the public (government), private and third sectors at global, European, national and local levels. Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars, and guest lectures from experts at the forefront of research and practice. The module is assessed by an essay coursework and a written exam. Assessments are designed to provide students with choice to explore those parts of the module they find most interesting and/or align with their career plans.
