The module spanning over two semesters provides a further understanding of how both practical and research skills drive effective planning and development through a series of lectures and tutorials. In Semester 1, students will engage with current concepts and multiple core topics in contemporary planning. They will further enhance employability skills that are commonly applied in the planning subject area and essential for spatial planners, thus providing the development and practice of core transferable skills with potential applications after graduation. In Semester 2, students will be equipped with the fundamental research skills in the context of planning and development research, which will lay a solid foundation and facilitate their milestone project/dissertation in the third year. A mixed array of assessments across the whole sessions, including practical assessment, professional report writing, and planning research proposal, will be guided by academic advisors, enabling active learning.
