This module explores the economic foundations of public policy, focusing on how government interventions shape markets, address social challenges, and promote sustainable economic development. Students will critically assess policies related to environmental protection, income distribution, labour markets, and public goods provision. With an emphasis on real-world applications, the module equips students with the analytical and empirical tools needed to evaluate policy effectiveness using applied microeconometrics. Through hands-on data analysis in STATA and case studies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students will develop the skills required for careers in government, economic consulting, and policy analysis.
