This module uses Python and Microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) to teach students emerging digital techniques that improve the productivity, reproducibility, and quality of their experimental Chemistry workflows. Through the construction of an internet-connected environmental sensor, the core Python modules used in acquiring, cleaning, processing, analysing, and visualising data are explored. Familiarity with modern best practice in FAIR data and code sharing via e.g., GitHub or GitLab, and contemporary literature, e.g., RSC Digital Discovery, is embedded throughout the course. Learning and assessment is underpinned by a hands-on, workshop- and project-driven approach set in a Chemistry context.
