This module constitutes the industrial placement year for students enrolled on a Computer Science or Informatics undergraduate programme with a Year in Industry. Students undertake a minimum of eight months of full‑time professional experience in an industrial, commercial, public‑sector, or third‑sector organisation.
During the placement, students gain practical experience of professional working practices, apply academic knowledge in a real‑world setting, and develop transferable skills that enhance graduate employability. The placement year is assessed through a structured set of tasks, including an introductory report, assessment of professional performance, a logbook, a final reflective report, and a presentation that together support reflective, academic, and professional development.
