FRAMING ANTIQUITY

Code: CLAH100

Credits: 30

Semester: Whole Session

This first-year module supports you in developing the core academic skills needed to succeed at university and to grow as a confident, independent learner. To make these skills feel relevant and engaging, the module uses Pompeii as a central case study. With its remarkable preservation, long history of excavation, and powerful place in modern imagination, Pompeii offers a vivid example of how evidence from the ancient world is discovered, interpreted, debated, and managed. While Pompeii provides a shared focus for practical sessions, scaffolded self-directed learning activities and assessment will enable you to engage with other curated case studies relevant to your degree. You will build key study skills that support your wider degree while developing transferable skills valued in many careers, including critical thinking, communication, digital confidence and reflective learning.
