Contemporary Health Challenges and Biomedical Sciences

This module provides students with the opportunity to showcase, apply and enhance their knowledge of the contemporary health challenges from the perspective of the Biomedical Sciences. This will have a focus on the holistic understanding of a range of diseases/ conditions which are of special interest to the local Liverpool community and those further afield. It will allow students to apply and enhance their knowledge and skills to some of the health challenges facing biomedicine today. Students will apply their knowledge and scientific understanding to develop an evidence-based consultancy report suggesting actions which aim to alleviate these health challenges. Students will also engage with research seminar presentations that highlight the direction and strengths of ongoing research at Liverpool. This module is assessed via two assessments, the consultancy report and a negotiated format science communications piece.
