Electromagnetism and wave physics underpin much of modern technology, from electrical power systems to communications and imaging. In this module, you will explore how electric and magnetic fields arise from charges and currents, and how waves describe the transfer of energy and information through physical systems.

Through guided problem-solving, you will learn to apply fundamental laws such as Gauss’s law and Kirchhoff’s laws to analyse simple electrical and physical systems. You will also investigate key wave phenomena including superposition, interference and diffraction, developing insight into how these principles explain real-world behaviour.

The module emphasises building confidence in using mathematics to describe physical systems and in interpreting the meaning of your results. By the end, you will have developed a strong foundation in electromagnetism and wave physics, preparing you for more advanced analytical and mathematical approaches in later years.
