Civil and Architectural Engineering Projects

Code: CIVE162

Credits: 30

Semester: Whole Session

This module provides students with an introduction to projects within the built environment, the roles of professional engineers, the professions they will interact with, and the skills required by a professional engineer operating in the built environment. Use of a global project in developing countries gives a real-world mechanism for students to gain an understanding of design in the built environment. The project also takes consideration of context factors (social/people, economic/enterprise, environment/sustainability), as well as the design process deployed by practising civil and architectural engineers that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), plus sketching and drawing skills for design communication. In addition, the module makes connections to professional competencies of such engineers, as well as provides skills and confidence from the outset of degree studies in Artificial Intelligence and Gen AI linked to academic integrity and careers.
