My appointment as a teaching-focused academic at the University of Liverpool recognises my extensive experience in teaching and administration in the higher education sector. As Director of Undergraduate Studies in Computer Science, I take an overarching and holistic view of our programmes and ensure our students are given the best possible chance to achieve their full potential. In my role as the Education Lead Facilitator for the School of Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, I liaise closely with other school leads, including the Dean and Heads of Departments, in order to address teaching and learning issues across the school, promote best practice in the pedagogy of our subjects, and ensure the school remains a vibrant and inclusive educational environment for staff and students.
I hold an Honours degree in Intelligent Systems and Computing from Oxford Brookes University, and a PhD in Computer Science from Keele University. I was previously a senior teaching fellow at the University of Surrey, a lecturer at Keele University, and have worked as an IT consultant specialising in web development, user experience design, virtual worlds, and database optimisation.
