Biography

Personal Statement

I obtained a B.Sc. Honours Degree in 1986 from the University of Hull. I spent a couple of years teaching mathematics in a rural secondary school abroad and then worked as a software engineer for two years. Returning to education I obtained an M.Sc. from the University of Manchester in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1995. From 1995-2000 I was a Research Fellow and then Research Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. I joined in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Liverpool in 2001 as a Lecturer and was later promoted to Senior Lecturer and then Reader.
