Welcome from the ELC

Whether it is your first time coming to the UK or studying at a British university, you can be sure that the English Language Centre (ELC) is a great place to study. The Pre-sessional course is designed with you in mind. The course aims to give you the confidence and language skills to manage all aspects of your academic life: improving your academic speaking, writing, listening and reading skills, responding to feedback, managing time and deadlines as well as your digital literacy. You also get all the benefits and opportunities of studying at a prestigious Russell Group University, ranked in the top 200 of higher education institutions worldwide. In our most recent BALEAP accreditation assessment (April 2021) we met 42 out of 46 criteria and partially met four criteria.

The ELC offers a friendly and supportive learning environment and our team of tutors are committed to working with you to help you realise your full potential. Our administrative team is on-hand for non-academic student support from initial enquiry to course completion.
