Dr Emily Harmer

Dr Emily Harmer (Eharm@liverpool.ac.uk), Senior Lecturer in Media Studies, University of Liverpool, UK: Dr Emily Harmer is a Senior Lecturer in Media and co-director of DigiPol: Centre for Digital Politics, Media and Democracy at the University of Liverpool, UK. Her research interests centre on the relationship between gender, media, and politics. Emily is the author of Women, Media and Elections: Marginalisation and Representation in British Politics (published in 2021), and co-editor of Online Othering: Exploring digital violence and discrimination on the web (2019). Emily’s current work focuses on analysing and understanding experiences of online abuse and discrimination against women in public life, including journalists.
