Canvas Help for Staff has been a supportive shoulder for many of you as we waved bye-bye to VITAL and welcomed our shiny new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Canvas, to the institution in 2021. Providing you with just-in-time guidance and information on all aspects of Canvas and it’s integrations, CIE now launches a new and improved version of the course, complete with a more intuitive structure, refreshed interface, and more constructive up-to-date content.

With the University moving to remote teaching and remote working, these have become uncertain times for colleagues. My friends in other departments across the University have expressed their apprehension of working remotely and are concerned about how to stay active and connected. So here in CIE I have asked my colleagues what works for them and we have put together some recommendations or tried and tested tips and tricks for a positive remote working experience, and have listed some apps which have helped us maintain a positive outlook.

A Journey of Discovery

A Journey of Discovery

As I write this blog post I have just boarded a boat, setting out on a voyage of discovery to discover new worlds! Ok that’s a slight exaggeration, I’m on a 24 hour ferry to Spain for a family holiday, but nevertheless this is still a journey that we have spent months organising, arranging transport, getting together the paperwork and planning our route etc.
