LBNE

A next generation long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment

The Long Baseline Neutrino Experiment (LBNE) will shoot a neutrino beam from the Fermilab laboratory outside Chicago to a large Liquid Argon far detector in South Dakota to search for CP Violation in neutrinos and to elucidate the neutrino Mass Hierarchy.

The Liverpool neutrino group has joined the project in 2013 and is building up a portfolio of physics studies and detector R&D. LBNE is scheduled to get first physics data in 2023.
