Our LLM courses and modules

Through our research-led teaching, we help our students develop as independent learners and researchers, gaining valuable skills for use in their subsequent working lives.

Law General (LLM)

On this LLM you are free to select any of the LLM Law modules that we offer in order to tailor the programme to your interests. In addition to the modules offered on our specialist health law and human rights specialisms, you can choose from a range of modules taught by leading legal experts including modules in the fields of Commercial Law; Competition Law; International Business; and Trade Law and International Law.

International Business and Commercial Law (LLM)

Our new International Business and Commercial Law LLM will enable you to study a wide range of specialised legal areas and engage critically with important, contemporary issues affecting global business. Building on our existing strengths, this course offers research-connected and enquiry-led teaching to explore the cross-cutting problems of real-world significance organised around three broad themes: (1) law, global trade and society; (2) corporate responsibility and accountability; and (3) the law governing technology and intellectual property rights.

International Human Rights Law (LLM)

This LLM offers insights into International Human Rights Law, including the substance and application of the law, the actors and instituations involved, the history and process around the internationalisation of human rights, and its impact on domestic legal systems. You can choose from a range of specialist modules including Transitional Justice; International Peace and Security; and International Protection of Human Rights. 

Law, Medicine and Healthcare (LLM)

This course offers advanced study of the relationship between law, medicine and healthcare, including medico-legal ethics, concepts such as autonomy, capacity and best interests and theories around regulation of medicine and the healthcare profession. You can choose from a range of specialist modules including Medical Malpractise Litigation; Children, Medicine and the Law; and Ethics in Health Care Decision Making.
