Year 1 Subsidiary Options

Depending on your course choice, you may be required to select some optional courses:

  • Two modules if taking F100, F102F111, or F161 (one in each semester).
  • One module if taking F103 in semester one.
  • F1B2 or F1BF no action required.

Chem184 Innovative Chemistry for Energy and Materials is an optional Chemistry module which can be taken in the Second Semester instead of the subsidiary options shown below.

Your subsidiary modules can either comprise Archaeology, Pharmacology*, Mathematics*, Oceanography and Environmental Sciences, Physics* or Open Languages

*Requirements: Mathematics, Physics, and Pharmacology options require you to have a good A level grade in the appropriate subject. Archaeology, Oceanography and Environmental Sciences, and Open Languages have no prerequisites and are open to all.

New students - Online registration of modules: You should register for modules online before you arrive. It will mean one less task to complete during induction week and importantly will ensure you obtain the correct timetable upon arrival.

Please consider the possible combinations below and follow the links to find out more about the individual modules (if the links to new modules are not working, use the search box above).

One of the student enhancement projects in 2016-17 produced short videos to assist subsequent students to make the selection of your subsidiary subjects. You can view the videos by clicking on the links in the table below.

You will have to tell us which subsidiary modules you have chosen at registration.
