SAVSNET-Lab: Data from Diagnostic Laboratories
When an animal is taken to a veterinary practice, a sample may be taken to help the veterinary surgeon further assess its health. There are a range of samples which can be taken such as blood, swabs, urine and faeces and samples will very often be sent to a diagnostic laboratory for testing.
Small animal diagnostic laboratories in the United Kingdom play a vital role in the animal health industry. Many of these laboratories have now joined SAVSNET, submitting the results of the tests they perform. This data enables researchers to reveal important insights into the current disease status of small animals in this country.
We are grateful for the participation of the laboratories who have given their support to small animal disease surveillance, helping to promote the health and welfare of companion animals.
