Current role

My current role is working with samples from my CASE sponsor Genus PLC, to identify and quantify the proteins present in bovine semen, which is a combination of sperm and accessory gland fluid. Due to the global profiling nature of these samples my project involves MSe absolute quantification using an internal standard, and stable isotope labelling using H2O18 for relative quantification. My main interests are in identifying proteins that show variation between bulls from different breeds and between bulls with known high and low fertility. This will also extend to some cross species investigations using porcine samples from PIC.
