Buddycheck Feature Update June 2022

Buddycheck is a peer evaluation tool used to help students to feedback and reflect upon the contribution of themselves and their peers towards groupwork tasks. This can be used to make assessment of groupwork fairer through increased accountability and peer-moderation of grades. It can also be used formatively as a prompt for reflection and source of feedback leading to development of teamwork skills. Buddycheck is intergrated into Canvas, and available for all staff at the University of Liverpool to use.

In Episode 2, our guests share their lightbulb moments, including getting students to 'take' feedback, the importance of reflection, using play for conceptual understanding with Lego and ways of engaging environmental science students with hydrology. We also hear how the coronavirus pandemic has encouraged creativity when preparing for Hybrid Active Learning and socially distanced teaching.

Transition from New Box View to Bb Annotate for marking of assignments using Bb Assignments in VITAL

Earlier this year Blackboard Inc (the developers of VITAL) announced the move away from New Box View and the change to Bb Annotate for assignment viewing, marking and grading when using the Blackboard Assignment tool. Testing has now been completed to our satisfaction on this tool on our test server, and the change is due to be implemented, by our suppliers, on VITAL in the week commencing August 10th.
