Preparing to live and work in a different country can be a daunting experience. This section provides important information about the steps required for applying for your visa and planning your move to the UK.
Before you leave
EU, EEA, EFTA and Swiss nationals
We have collated FAQs for EU, EEA, EFTA and Swiss nationals, both currently resident in the UK and resident outside of the UK, to communicate the options laid out by the UK government in the event of a no-deal scenario, before and after the official date of exit from the EU, 29 March 2019.
For more information visit the UK Visa and Immigration website for all the latest information.
If you are outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland you must have permission to live and work in the UK. For more information please visit the Applying for a visa to come to the UK website.
The UK operates a points-based system. Migrants must score the required number of points and in most circumstances have a job offer from a licensed sponsor (employer).
Information on different categories of work visa can be found on the Visas and Immigration - work visas website.
Commonwealth citizens with UK ancestry can access relevant visa information here.
