Event structure

LivDocSim 1 - Awareness of Self, formerly known as Cedar House Interpersonal Simulation or 'CHIPS', develops students' awareness of self by focusing on communication, conflict resolution styles, and managing stress and overload. In 2022, this will be delivered online to Year 3 student doctors using simulated clinical scenarios.

LivDocSim 2 - Awareness of Team, formerly known as Cedar House Interpersonal Simulation 2 or 'CHIPS2', develops students' awareness of their role as part of a team by examining leadership and followership, raising concerns, situational awareness, decision making and the distribution of workload. In 2022, this will be delivered online to Year 4 student doctors using simulated clinical scenarios.

The Systems and Safety Workshops are online workshops which run throughout 5th year student's acute blocks and are aimed at preparing them for LivDocSim 3. During these workshops, the students receive a presentation covering various aspects of safety science including error recognition and management, safety culture, procedural safety and human performance variation. The students then analyse an organisational safety review and reflect on the implications for practice.

LivDocSim 3 - Awareness of System, formerly known as LivDocSim, provides students with the opportunity to further develop their understanding of system through repeated deliberate practice, and builds on the concepts explored in LivDocSim 1 and 2.

This will be the ultimate simulation event delivered to Year 5 student doctors and will involve face-to-face simulated critical scenarios.
