Developing qualitative/conceptual research into top management journal articles and becoming job market ready

11th & 12th September 2017

University of Liverpool Management School ‌

This is a two day event organised by the University of Liverpool Management School’s (ULMS) doctoral community, in association with Narti. The event is aimed at PhDs in their second year of study onwards, and early career researchers. The overall aim of the conference is to support doctoral and early career researchers in the development of papers for top journals and to enhance employability and career progression through a writing workshop. In addition, delegates will have the opportunity to present their research in a mock job interview whereby the presenter will be expected to have identified potential for collaboration with their academic panel and peers within the streams.

This will be a high quality and high-impact conference, in a fully engaged environment aimed at getting doctoral researchers and ECRs job-market ready, internationally aware and facilitating the career progression of early career researchers. The conference will combine three elements: First, keynote presentations by leading academics will address the wider landscape of (post) doctoral work and how early scholars can make a contribution to existing debates. Second, short presentations of doctoral and post-doctoral projects will allow researchers to publicise their work and gain confidence in presenting research in a mock job interview style set-up. Finally, roundtable discussions on paper development options will facilitate the progression of written work directed towards a journal of the delegate’s choice. Combined, these elements will allow doctoral and early career researchers to practice reviewing, significantly develop a manuscript towards publication, facilitate networking, and provide insights into wider mechanisms of publishing and academic contributions to knowledge, highlighting and putting into practice the importance of aligning research agendas towards collaborations both nationally and internationally.
