Research Overview

Ed's main research area is gender diverse and intersex children and adolesents within healthcare. Much of his work has been spent comparatively analysing the different approaches to the provision or non-provision of medical interventions. Ed has also been involved with emperical work, researching with children, focussing on healthcare experiences and restrictive practice. Ed is a memeber of the European Children's Rights Unit, the Health Law and Regulation Unit and the Feminist Research Academic Network. In addition, Ed has a keen interest in research ethics involving children, co-authoring guidance available at the National Centre for Research Methods. As part of his interest in research ethics he is amemeber of the University Ethics Committee.
Ed is interested in supervising PhDs in his areas of experitse, in particular medical interventions associated with intersex conditions or gender diverse children and adolescents.
