Canvas is the University's Virtual Learning Environment, a key digital tool to support our Hybrid Active Learning approach, being a home for teaching materials, activities, collaboration and assessment.

Canvas has a wide array of features and integrated tools that can be used to flexibly deliver rich, innovative and highly active learning experiences.

Accessing Canvas

The direct login link to Canvas is: (buttons also appear within the Student and Staff Intranet).

If prompted to log in, enter your username in the format e.g. and then your MWS password (both for staff or students), and then follow the Duo authentication instructions.

Dedicated mobile apps

There are dedicated apps for students and teachers, bringing enhancements such as course notifications to help you stay up to date and plan your teaching and learning, grade or provide feedback on assignments, and monitor or take part in activities whilst being on the move.

Go to the Play Store (Android) or App Store (Apple) and search for ‘Canvas Teacher’ and/or ‘Canvas Student’. Once installed use the ‘Find my school’ button to search for ‘University of Liverpool’, and then login with your details as above. The app should then stay logged in.
