I analyse relations between (digital) popular culture, popular music, news and politics through the lens of multimodal critical discourse studies. Most of my research focusses on popular music videos and critically explores how they articulate discourses. More recently, I have been analysing digital popular culture which includes memes, mash ups, GIFs, parodies, and music distributed in social media. Current research projects include ‘Analysing Politics and Protest in Digital Popular Culture: A Multimodal Approach’.
