About the Liverpool Sociological Research Cluster

Liverpool Sociological Research Cluster serves as a vibrant intellectual hub for sociologists.

Members explore a diverse array of topics, including AI and online life, contemporary state structures, racial capitalism, knowledge production dynamics, climate emergency responses, medical artefacts, social class dynamics, education systems, privatisation of public services, spatial analysis, cultural industries, and architecture. The breadth of our research interests underscores our commitment to inclusivity and pluralism, as we recognise the complexity and interconnectedness of social experience.

Despite the wide-ranging nature of our inquiries, our cluster members share common interests in theoretical and methodological approaches within sociology. These shared foundations enable us to collaboratively shed light on the various social experiences we investigate. Rooted in critical perspectives on power and inequality, our cluster is reflective of a long and proud tradition in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy, and Criminology, dating back to its founding in 1905.

Join us as we delve into the complexities of contemporary society, employing rigorous sociological inquiry to better understand and address the challenges and opportunities facing our world today.
