The table below displays all of the sessions on the Academy’s central PGR programme by month.  Use the links contained in the table to book onto a session.

Sessions are a mix of in-person and online, delivered via a range of formats including online modules and resources, workshops, masterclasses, bootcamps, webinars, Faculty Forums and practical applications.

The Academy’s PGR Offering will help you plan, promote and progress your personal and professional development, and build your community by connecting with your fellow PGRs across the University. Whether you are an early, mid or late stage PGR, you will find development activities tailored to your needs. All sessions are open to all University of Liverpool PGRs, regardless of your stage.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Everyone doubts themselves at some point. This workshop will explain what ‘imposter syndrome’ is and how it manifests itself in different ways to help you recognise when ‘imposter’ feelings are creeping in and stopping you making progress or taking on a new challenge. How do you initiate the writing process when faced with only a blank page or a cursor incessantly blinking on the screen? This half day online bootcamp will focus on how to start writing, how to keep going and how to finish. We will cover initiating and managing a manuscript, structure, productive writing techniques and a short introduction to new collaborative writing tools. Participants will be encouraged to consider where writing can fit into their schedule and what works best for them. This bootcamp is essential for those who need a boost to their writing productivity at the mid stage.

This half day bootcamp explores the practicalities of thesis writing, including planning techniques, appropriate writing style and how to make writing more productive. A variety of writing and productivity techniques will be introduced and this is complemented by a discussion of software tools that can be helpful. A section on data presentation is also included and examples of good figures are used to illustrate best practice. By the end of the bootcamp you will have a clear understanding of what is required of your thesis, and will have started to design a writing strategy that works for you.
