At the start of the new academic year in 2023-24 we have 32 doctoral students in the Public Health, Policy and Systems Department.
We invite projects from prospective students in diverse topic areas relating to public health. Recent and current topics include:
- Inequalities in children taken into care in England: local studies to inform policy
- Developing a microsimulation policy model to quantify the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and equity of tobacco control policies.
- Longitudinal analysis of the impact of Green and Blue Spaces on maternal and infant health
- Using social media to engage patients and the public in clinical trials
- The development of emerging zoonoses and infections policies in the UK
- Investigate the contribution of illness perceptions and metacognitive beliefs in the development and maintenance of distress in people with epilepsy

Professor Sarah Rodgers is the PGR lead for the department. We also have postgraduate student representatives who attend Institute meetings to convey the views of their peers, and organise local events to enhance student life and learning.
