Paul Taylor has been awarded the Robbins Rotblat Scholarship, a new University of Liverpool scholarship for this year. This was previously the Sir Joseph Rotblat Scholarship, named in honour of Nobel Peace Prize laureate and alumnus Sir Joseph Rotblat (PhD Physics 1950, Hon DSci 1989). The scholarship rewards students with exceptional academic performance who can demonstrate that they would not be able to go on to pursue postgraduate research without additional help. It specifically supports alumni of the University. It has been twinned with a generous donation from the family of Eric Robbins, an alumnus who was awarded a doctorate in Physics from the university in 1954, having worked under Sir Joseph Rotblat, and who passed away last year at 94.

The award will allow Paul to reduce his working hours, dedicating more time per week to his research in the area of religious meta-ethics. His thesis, supervised by Dr Daniel Hill, is tentatively titled All Theists should be Divine Command Theorists.
