Guidance for online students who have not completed their studies

If you have not completed your studies then you will need to transition to the University’s new arrangements with Kaplan.

The guidance on this page is intended for you if you:

  • Commenced a masters dissertation and have a deadline after the 17 March 2021;
  • Were enrolled in a doctoral thesis and continued beyond the 2 April 2021;
  • Have been awaiting formal recommendation of your doctoral award by your examiners after the 2 April 2021;
  • Have missed any taught modules that are required for your programme award;
  • Have previously failed a taught module and are academically eligible to present yourself for reassessment, with this requiring a full re-take of the module;
  • Still need to commence a masters dissertation or doctoral thesis;
  • Have previously failed a masters dissertation attempt and are eligible to present yourself for reassessment by re-sitting or re-taking this; or
  • Have received confirmation that a Board of Examiners has determined that you require re-assessment in a masters dissertation or taught module, or if you wish to appeal a decision of a Board of Examiners.

If you have not already transitioned to the University’s new arrangements with Kaplan:

  1. Read the University Privacy Policy and the Kaplan Privacy Policy, which set out how we will use your personal data.
  2. Contact the Kaplan Student Support Team, who will provide you with your new Terms and Conditions and your payment plan, which matches the financial arrangements you had previously entered into with Laureate Online Education. The Student Support Team will answer any questions about your payment plan or any other aspect of your study.
  3. You must accept the Terms and Conditions for transitioning students in order to get set up in the new virtual learning environment. These Terms and Conditions set out the way in which we will deliver our service to you.

Email

Official communications will be sent to your University email (@liverpool.ac.uk) and so please ensure you access this on a regular basis. As previously advised, it will no longer be possible to access your @online.liverpool.ac.uk email formerly provisioned by Laureate Online Education.

If you have forgotten your IT Services (MWS) account password then you can reset your password. If you are unable to reset your password then please consult the Service Desk.

 

Transition dissertations / theses

All active masters dissertation and doctoral thesis modules in the Laureate Blackboard virtual learning environment closed for archiving at 6pm Central European Time on the 17 March 2021.

If you are a transitioning student and have accepted the Terms and Conditions then you should now have access to your new classroom in the Kaplan virtual learning environment. You will find an archive copy of all discussion board postings and attachments from the Laureate Blackboard virtual learning environment module in your new classroom. You have also been granted an automatic three-week extension to compensate for any time lost due to the transition.

Module marks and transcripts

You can check your confirmed module marks in Liverpool Life using your nine-digit University of Liverpool Student ID. Please refer to the information on accessing Liverpool Life.

Please also refer to the information about obtaining unofficial and official academic transcripts on the University website.

 

Further study requirements

The University and Kaplan working to review the onward study requirements, and the Student Support Team will contact you with an individual study plan setting out the arrangements for you to complete your award.

 

Outstanding fees

You may pay off any outstanding fee owed to Laureate through Flywire by selecting 'University of Liverpool, Laureate Online'.
