Guidance for online students who have completed their studies

If you have completed your studies then you will not need to transition to the University’s new arrangements with Kaplan.

Please note that the information on this page was updated on the 20 July 2021 with further information on the graduation arrangements.

The guidance on this page is intended for you if you:

  • Submitted your masters dissertation through the Laureate Online Education Blackboard virtual learning environment on or before 6pm Central European Time on the 17 March 2021 and have no outstanding taught module requirements; or
  • Had your doctoral award formally recommended by your examiners on or before the 1 April 2021. If modifications were recommended at the Viva, then please note that the formal recommendation for the award will only be made as the modifications are signed off by the examiners.

If, however, you have not completed your studies then please refer to the guidance on transitioning to the University's new arrangements with Kaplan.

Email

Official communications will be sent to your University email (@liverpool.ac.uk) and so please ensure you access this on a regular basis. As previously advised, it will no longer be possible to access your @online.liverpool.ac.uk email formerly provisioned by Laureate Online Education.

If you have forgotten your Computing Services (MWS) account password then you can reset your password. If you are unable to reset your password then please consult the CSD Service Desk.

Confirmation of dissertation marks and awards

If you submitted your masters dissertation on or before 6pm Central European Time on the 17 March 2021 this will be assessed and presented to a Board of Examiners in mid June 2021. If you pass your dissertation and have no further outstanding taught module requirements then the Board will also consider your final award.

Confirmation of the decisions of the Boards of Examiners will be communicated to your University email in early July 2021.

Re-assessment and Appeals

If a Board of Examiners determines that you require re-assessment in a masters dissertation or taught module then you will need to transition to the University’s new arrangements with Kaplan.

If you appeal against a decision of the Board of Examiners and this is upheld then you will need to transition to the University’s new arrangements with Kaplan if this results in your studies continuing.

Class of 2021 virtual ceremonies

The focal point for the virtual celebrations is this Friday 23 July 2021 – the day degrees will be officially conferred in absentia.

The main event, featuring contributions from across the University community, including conferral of degrees by the Vice-Chancellor, will premiere at 12pm UK time on Friday via the Graduation webpages.

If you can’t make the premiere, don’t worry. You, your friends and your family will be able to watch via the Graduation webpages at any time later, once the premiere has screened.

The graduation webpages will also be the focal point for messages of goodwill, including from some of our teaching staff and your peers, family and alumni via a social media wall. If you would like to share your own congratulations message or tell us how you’re celebrating, make sure you tag your posts #LivUniGrad.

In-person ceremonies

We hope that you enjoy your online celebration but, as previously communicated, we will also be inviting you back to campus for an in-person ceremony during the next academic year, with ceremonies hopefully starting in the autumn subject to any Government guidance in place at the time. We will be in touch with you again with further details about your in-person ceremony as soon as possible.

Outstanding fees owed to Laureate Online Education

You will be prevented from registering for graduation and will not be able to receive your award if you owe an outstanding fee to Laureate. If you owe an outstanding fee to Laureate then please visit the portal to confirm the amount.

If you have any queries about your outstanding fee you can contact the Laureate Bursar or submit a financial support request so they can assist you.

Transcripts

Please refer to the information about obtaining unofficial and official academic transcripts on the University website.
