Beethoven Bartók Now is an ambitious new project by the Solem Quartet that brings together the late quartets of Beethoven and the quartets of Béla Bartók, uniquely reimagined with music from composers of today.

Beethoven Bartók Now will also generate a wealth of digital content and educational activity, providing a rich resource for a network of composers and an access point for new audiences.

In this concert you are invited to a pre-recorded performance of the second movement of Bartók’s Quartet no. 5, an example of Bartok’s ‘night music', and subsequent interpretative discussion amongst the players as they unpack the history and meaning of this music. Then you are invited to join a live Q&A session with the four members of the Quartet.

This concert will be available from 13.15 on Facebook, YouTube and the Department of Music website. Post-concert Q&A on Zoom.
