Apply now for fully funded master's places in Japan

The Japanese Government is offering fully funded postgraduate scholarships to UK nationals. Make sure to apply before before the 1st June 2017!

The MEXT Postgraduate Scholarship Programme: 2018 - 2020 is an excellent chance for british nationals to acquire a fully funded place to study abroad in Japan. 

The award includes: a return air fare, all school fees and a monthly grant of 143,000 yen (around £980, subject to change) will be provided to successful students.

Application documents should be submitted by post to the Embassy of Japan in the UK, to  arrive no later than Thursday 1 June 2017 by 5pm (GMT). Scholarships can start from either April 2018 for 2 years or September/October for 18 months, including 6 months of Japanese language education.

This award is offered to British nationals who hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree, are under the age of 35 and who wish to study or do research in Japan. (Those with a nationality other than British who wish to apply should contact the Embassy of Japan in their home country.)

No knowledge of the Japanese language is necessary, courses will be provided after entry to the country for those who need it.

Awardees can pursue study or research in any field so long as it is related to their field of expertise or previous study. Candidates are encouraged to establish contacts with Japanese academics in their field in advance in order to be able to list three faculties of Japanese universities of their choice to work at when applying for the scholarship.

If you are interested in applying, meet with your academic supervisor as soon as possible in order to begin choosing a host institution and supervisor to approach.
