Research Interests

Mike has research interests in two broad areas: (i) public law, in particular constitutional law, practice, theory and reform, especially from a UK perspective; and, (ii) legal and political theory, in particular the relationships between law and politics, rights and democracy, and theories of government and constitutionalism.

Mike is currently supervisor to four PhD students and one LLM (Res) student, all conducting research in public law and legal theory, with UK, European, and international dimensions. He has supervised two PhD students to completion, and examined research degrees both internally and externally.

Mike would be interested to hear from prospective postgraduate students who wish to complete projects within his area(s) of research.
