Research Overview

My research focuses on the use of health care data and how we may use this to inform treatment decisions and ultimately help improve the length and quality of patients lives.

Personalised Synthetic Control

This involves using statistical models to predict patient performance under some standard of care. By comparing patients observed outcomes to these predictions can then be used to teach us not only what treatment work best but can also be used too identify predictive sub-groups and help lead us towards data driven solutions for clinical problems.

Efficient Trial Design

Randomised Controlled Trials are the gold standard of prospective research. They are however an expensive approach and have substantial costs in terms of time, money and the number of patients required. Improving the efficiency of clinical trials through the application of advanced methodology can accelerate the process of treatment evaluation and ultimately benefit the care that patients receive.

Identification of predictive biomarkers

Biomarkers are any patient characteristic we can identify which may inform how they react to treatment or their outcome. Predictive biomarkers in particular can help inform which treatment a patients should be given and are the main tool in achieving precision medicine. My research is in evaluating and developing tools which can reliably identify predictive biomarkers.
