The Social Science in Health and Medicine Collaborative draws together a critical mass of social scientists researching issues relating to public health and health inequalities; health services; the health and illness experiences of individuals, communities and populations; as well as studies of medicine, medical technologies and clinical contexts. Taken together, this body of work has been instrumental in informing policy, shaping the delivering of health services, involving communities and patient groups in determining a public health agendae, understanding the biosocial implications of medical interventions and contributing to theoretical and methodological debates.
